For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Throughout this site, you will find many references to the Bible. It is reasonable to question whether or not the Bible is a trustworthy source. In the following videos, Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr., and J. Warner Wallace explain why you can believe the Bible.
Voddie Baucham is Dean of the Seminary at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia. J. Warner Wallace is an experienced cold case detective who applies the principles of investigation and evidence to examine the Bible. I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents, written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses, that report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin. |

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Christ, not the Bible, is the foundation of our faith—but our only authoritative and infallible source of knowledge about Christ is the Bible. People often say to us, "Oh, you don't read the Bible, do you?" Or they say, "The Bible is just another book. You really ought to read …." Then they name some of their favorite books. Others have a Bible in their library, describing how it sits on the shelf next to the other "greats," such as Homer's Odyssey, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, or Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Their Bible may be dusty, not broken in, but they still recognize its historical influence, thinking of it as one of the classics. Still others make degrading comments about the Bible because they are surprised that anyone might take it seriously enough to spend time reading it. I was once like them. I even tried to refute the Bible as God's Word to humanity. I finally concluded, however, that not accepting the Bible must result from being either biased, prejudiced, or simply unread. If we feel more righteous as we read the Bible, we are misreading it; we are missing its central message. We are reading and using the Bible rightly only when it humbles us, critiques us, and encourages us with God's love and grace despite our flaws. |
