And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:17-22
The Bible is the most comprehensive account of the events surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is filled with the testimony of multiple eyewitnesses like Matthew, John, Paul, James, and Peter. Others, like Mark and Luke, recorded the reports of witnesses. Peter wrote, “For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses.” (2 Peter 1:16) Elsewhere, Luke quotes Peter speaking in Jerusalem, “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” (Acts 2:22-24)
Although the Bible is the best source for information about the resurrection of Jesus, there is ample other evidence about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. The four facts listed below are so well evidenced that they are accepted by nearly every scholar who studies the subject, even those skeptical of the Bible. These well supported statements as a group defy credible explanation apart from Jesus' resurrection.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

- Jesus died by crucifixion in the first century.
- Jesus' followers believed that he rose from the dead and physically appeared to them.
- Paul suddenly went from persecuting followers of Jesus to proclaiming Jesus' resurrection.
- James, the brother of Jesus, went from being a skeptic to being a leader in the church.
